If you count yourself among those who still have a fondness for BloodRayne, Terminal Reality's early noughties nazi-killing vampire dhampir game (and its follow-ups), then here's something for you to sink your teeth into.
The retro publisher Ziggurat Interactive (the company behind BloodRayne: ReVamped and BloodRayne 2: ReVamped) has just announced plans to crowdfund a new comic continuation of the series next year to celebrate the series's 25th anniversary, in addition to a new merch line in partnership with the independent clothing label The Night Channels (available to order now).
Released in October 2002 for PS2 and Xbox (GameCube and PC versions would follow), BloodRayne, in case you're in need of a quick refresher, is a third-person action-adventure game that follows the story of the red-headed dhampir (half-human/half-vampire) Rayne, as she is recruited into a secret organisation called the Brimstone Society, tasked with saving humanity from supernatural threats.
Riding the wave of gritty vampire media that seemed to emerge between the mid-90s and the early 2000s, it received generally positive reviews and did well enough for a sequel, Bloodrayne 2, to be launched in 2004. This notably swapped the Nazi baddies of the original game, the Gegengeist Gruppe, for The Cult of Kagan (members of Rayne's vampire family).
Following that, there were a bunch of awful films (the less said about them the better!), and then a third game in the series, a side-scroller from WayForward called BloodRayne: Betrayal, in 2011 (which was the first game in the series not to be developed by Terminal Reality).

In recent years, due to Ziggurat, the series is still around, alive and kicking, though modern releases have typically been limited to remasters of older games.
According to the Kickstarter for the new comic (set to launch "in the first quarter of 2027"), it will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of BloodRayne 2, which it describes as "one of gaming's biggest cliffhangers."
With Kagan (Rayne's vampire father) dead and Rayne being declared the new vampire empress, she will now have to deal with her biggest threat yet: a mysterious new group called the Red Widows.
Kevin Roditeli (SWAT Kats) is penning this brand new story, with the artist BRÄO (The Crow, Penthouse Comics) responsible for the comic's art. As for what else to expect, here's a description taken from the campaign page:
"Beyond the main story, the book will feature expanded-universe stories by writer Felipe Cagno (The Few and Cursed) which will lead to a larger worldwide threat in the BloodRayne universe, with assistance from BloodRayne lore builder Andy Lanning (Guardians of the Galaxy, Punisher: Year One) and Ant Williams (X-Men, Deadpool). The creative team is rounded out by comics veterans letterer/designer Serge LaPointe (Assassin’s Creed, Christopher Nolan’s Batman) and editor Chris Stevens (Lost Fantasy, Marvel Artbooks)."
In the same blast of announcements where Ziggurat revealed these new ventures, it also provided an update on Strictly Limited Games' BloodRayne Definitive Edition for PS5 and Switch, which has been repeatedly delayed since pre-orders opened last year.
In this update, Ziggurat stated that all three games have been approved and are now ready for production on PS5, while the Nintendo Switch version is waiting for approval from Nintendo for the BloodRayne 2 physical patch. All production art is also reportedly "designed and approved," with Strictly Limited Games' publishing producer Felix Wagner stating, "Rayne is almost on her way to shelves"
Notably, no specific date was provided as part of this update on when physical copies will begin shipping, with the website simply reporting "Winter 2026/27" as the current window for fulfilment.
