Bloober Team is still sifting through the development fog in efforts to bring us a slick new remake of the classic 1999 survival horror title, Silent Hill. While no official release date has been announced, a new report suggests that the studio is eyeing a 2027 release.

According to frequent spoilers Mp1st, Silent Hill is currently being developed at Bloober Team under the codename of "Project Noise", with the studio confident that the remake will be creeping onto shelves next year. Mp1st's report also reveals the identity of two actors - Gabrielle Fritz (Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Battlefield 2042) and Jade Matthew (Torchwood, River Song) - both supposedly cast in the project.

Silent Hill is currently experiencing a renaissance, led by the launch of two new and very well-received new entries. Silent Hill F (2025) relocates the series trademark psychological horror and oppressive, slow-burn atmosphere to 1960s Japan, following the misadventures of a young student fighting for survival in her home town. Just last month, Silent Hill Townfall impressed critics and fans with its story of three strangers thrust into a purgatory-like existence within a rural Scottish town.

Given the success of these releases, it would seem snug that Konami is aiming to release Silent Hill in 2027, allowing for three hit games three years running. Of course, there is a danger of Silent Hill oversaturation, but such matters have never, ever concerned game publishers. The original PlayStation release is considered a favourite within the survival horror genre, and hopefully Bloober Team's take on the classic, whenever it arrives, will deliver the inerasable chill of its humble 1999 predecessor.

After all, terror is timeless.
