@Siambretta Yeah I totally agree with this and I'm not surprised by this happening. At the end of the day people can play ignorant, but they still need to understand that doesn't excuse them from consequences of the content they have (I have seen someone get in trouble for having child pornography on their computer after downloading some questionable content off the internet).

It's a worryingly common story that Google just doesn't respond to these things, which is a terrifying prospect when it's your livlihood. If you're an LTT or someone you've got enough klout to know someone directly at Google, but the majority of creators out there aren't so fortunate.

Google really needs to take this seriously, if they're going to start deleting channels then you should have a human contact you can speak to.

My advice to anyone looking to do any work like this is to never mix business with pleasure. Your home Google account with family photos etc should never cross paths with your professional work.

Looks like Google and YT AI took Slope for a ride. Something really needs to be done about that, it's unacceptable. I will say though if you're courting an audience of toxic individuals stuff like this is bound to happen more easily.

@Kushan Ironically Slope has given power to people that have made videos on me that thanks to AI YT do nothing about when reported so it's kind of come full circle for me. 🙄

Just bad practice having it go to a primary-linked account. Even my baby channel has a backup that I actually use for data storage.

Family photos should always be locally backed up by yourself in a few places. I'd never trust mine and my loved one's private memories to a cloud service.

This sucks and I've reached out to Dan to offer some advise (I've done a few little voice over parts for him in the past).

I think another issue that this brings to life is that Google AI is scanning EVERYTHING you upload to Google Drive and probably training it's AI software on OUR personal files.

So if no matter if it's a personal or professional account you save your personal photos too, chances are they are being used to train its Gemini AI software which is just wrong.

I don't get why he can't just make a new account and then transfer all his videos to that new account. I mean if you're popular on YouTube, just had all your subscribers know where your new channel is, they'll come.

@Tasuki But, how did your friend get caught with it? Unless it's a sting (Which is rare and wouldn't work if they plainly titled the videos) then someone had to be suspicious or check everything he had, making it suspicious also. I know someone who had CP - They got caught because they were cheating on their partner with a waaaay younger girl (Just about legal). She then checked his eMails and found transactions. When I thought about ot later, all his girlfriends looked very petit and younger than they were, too.

It's hard to have something like that by mistake and the first thing any normal person would do is report the Torrent in question, as it could be verified easily that it was in fact a mistake if things aren't labelled for what they are.

At least one of the images was illegal. Probably child porn. Unless it's baby pics, good luck.

@Kwyjibo_Kitsune Agreed, and ideally you want a local backup and a off-site backup option. It's well worth investing the time and money into this and I recommend it highly to most anyone.

There's absolutely lessons to be learned here. I tell my teenage kids all the time that simple mistakes online can cost you big time, if your not consistently cautious.

I wish this guy the best of luck and hope things go in the right direction for him.

Tommy Tallarico, responsible for the Intellivision Amico scam that is still shuffling along in a near death state, while putting out garbage like Evil Kenevil and Cornhole on the eShop at 14.99 a throw.

@drypaphmrbro Tommy Tallarico was the person behind the failed Amico project. Tallarico was once well respected, having been the composer for a number of well known games. He also had success with live video game concerts and ran several successful kickstarters (some of which I backed) for recordings of that music. So with his track record many retro games journalists were excited about the prospects of him resurrecting the Intellivision. Unfortunately he clearly bit off more than he could chew and instead of reducing the scope to something manageable, he instead kept on promising more and more. Eventually it all collapsed. Slopes, and other journalists, were criticised for not holding him more fully to account in interviews, which perhaps resulted in more people committing their money. @Tasuki I'm confused by your friend's case. How can you check what the torrent is before downloading it? You can look at the file size and labels, but that's the extent of it. It's not like you can preview the video first. I'm wondering how he got caught with it in the first place, unless someone was already suspicious.

@Slapshot 3-2-1 principle. 3 copies, on 2 different forms of media, 1 in an off-site location. Never trust important data to a single backup.

@Lanmanna That's what the court was trying to determine. Was the person intentionally searching for child porn, or did it just happen to be in the stuff they downloaded? I remember the Judge asked the Psychologist if their opinion was that the person knew what they were searching for, or if they weren't tech savvy enough to know they downloaded something with the material in it.

Yep none of the major platforms will ever provide a single iota of customer service unless you can make their day complicated via social media. They built these darn auto-moderation algorithms in order to get out of providing a human contact center, and by gum they're going to use them that way until they have no other choice.

@mjparker77 Still a decent channel. His follow up videos about the Amico saga exposed the grift for what it was, and he admitted his own fault in giving Tommy the benefit of the doubt. Honestly any of us of a certain age did. I meet him at a con back in the 00's and he autographed a CD. These days I look at the thing and it makes me laugh but none of us knew how big of a con man Tommy would become. Even the guys who would turn out to be his biggest critics, Pat and Ian, were cautiously optimistic about the idea of a home console for the modern era with Intellivision's legacy. He burned a lot of people and a lot of content creators, not just DJ Slope.

I'm a massive Inty fan, and was initially on board. But seriously, a week on AtariAge and I knew it was just another retro scam. That still continues.

And Tallarico himself may be the most narcissistic liar ever. You sent his interview as a backgammon 'world champion' also printed in a magazine that lasted two whole issues? Waste of skin. Used his dead sister and dad to self promote.

@mjparker77 Funny thing about AtariAge - I've known Al since way back and I contacted him privately about some of the wildly inaccurate and straight up slanderous things Tallarico was saying in the forums. Eventually it did get cleaned up but I think he too was trying to give Tommy the benefit of the doubt. The only good thing to come from that whole mess was the "gaming racists" meme — easily the funniest in a long string of dumb things Tommy said!

PS: Actually now that I think about it HBomberguy's "oof" documentary is TRULY the best thing to come out of the Amico. Still funny even today!

Weird lack of sympathy in the comments here. People can make mistakes like this easily, show some compassion.
