Update #2 [Thu 1st Feb, 2024 09:45 GMT]: Red Art Games has revealed that it will be bringing out physical versions of Sunsoft's Ufouria The Saga 2 in the West. This includes standard editions for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PS5, as well as deluxe editions for the Nintendo and PlayStation consoles.
Disappointingly, the deluxe edition isn't the same as the one that was previously announced for Japan, missing the bonus goodies like the Hebe plushie, pin badges, and whiteboard magnet. Instead, it simply contains a copy of the game, a manual, a reversible sleeve, and the bonus soundtrack CD. In other words, it's a bit barebones. If that doesn't put you off, you can pre-order at the links below (items are expected to ship in Q3 2024).
- Ufouria The Saga 2 PS5 Regular Edition (€39.99)
- Ufouria The Saga 2 PS5 Deluxe Edition (€39.99)
- Ufouria The Saga 2 Nintendo Switch Regular Edition (€39.99)
- Ufouria The Saga 2 Nintendo Switch Deluxe Edition (€39.99)
- Ufouria The Saga 2 Xbox Series X|S Regular Edition (€39.99)

Update #1 [Fri 10th Nov, 2023 09:40 GMT]: Sunsoft has now announced a proper set of release dates for Ufouria The Saga 2.
The game will be arriving on Steam and Nintendo Switch on February 29th, 2024 in Japan and March 1st, 2024 in the West, with versions for both Xbox Series X|S and PS5 scheduled for a later date.
The digital versions of the game will cost $24.99, while a standard physical edition for the Nintendo Switch is priced at $39.99. There is also a special edition set to go on sale in Japan too, including a Hebe plushie, a pin badge, a mini whiteboard magnet, and a soundtrack CD, but the price for this is yet undecided.

Original Story [Tue 24th Oct, 2023 11:05 BST]: Today, Sunsoft released the latest trailer for its Nintendo Switch sequel to the NES game Ufouria The Saga (otherwise known as Hebereke in Japan), and from what we can see it's shaping up to be an adorable new take on the classic action-platformer (thanks Gematsu!).
Originally announced back in April 2023, during the second Sunsoft is Back livestream, Ufouria The Saga 2 is scheduled to arrive next year on Nintendo Switch and boasts a lovingly hand-crafted style similar to games like Yoshi's Woolly World and Kirby's Epic Yarn.
The trailer gives a better look at a newly designed version of Hebe, the main character of the Japanese original, as well as a bunch of level art, such as an underground cavern, an autumnal forest, an ice cave, and a mining facility. According to a press release, published on Gematsu, one of the key features of the game will be that many areas will randomly change as you come to revisit them.
In case you didn't know, Hebereke/Ufouria The Saga was originally released in 1991 in Japan (before arriving in Europe one year later). North America, meanwhile, had to wait until 2010 to experience the game, finally getting their hands on it with the arrival of the Nintendo Wii eShop.
We'll keep you posted once we know more about this sequel. For now, you can watch the trailer below:

OH MY GOODNESS THIS LOOK AMAZING IT LOOKS SO CUTE AND CLEAN!!!! I thought they were simply gonna be making a port of the game like Trip World and Gimmick, but they're going above and beyond with this one. Definitely gonna be checking this out and super glad to see Sunsoft is now fully back in swing
Why are they keeping that awful name?! It wasn't even popular, you don't have to use it's horrible western name to sell it. Also I'm in the minority here but I think this looks awful, and I love all the cute yarn and craft games. I also think the coloring job on trip world is bad too. But at least that will be playable on original hardware.
@Poodlestargenerica do you have a soul or better yet, a life?
This looks absolutely incredible omfgsjsjskwi, like genuinely on par with if not a little bit better than Mario wonder visually , day 1 purchase for me EASILY and I’d kill to see more sunsoft remakes in this vain, especially if they get to do their licensed stuff like gremlins 2 or Batman
This looks terriffic! Sunsoft is doing a fine job with revisiting their classic properties of late.
@PinballBuzzbro I have both, and something you lack: refinement in taste.
