EA has just published the first trailer for its Dead Space remake, which is coming to PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S next year.

Developed by EA Motive Studio and based on EA Redwood Shores' 2008 original, Dead Space is a survival horror title set aboard the spaceship USS Ishimura. Players take on the role of humble engineer Isaac Clarke, who must fight his way through the crumbling ship taking down an assortment of stomach-turning monsters called 'Necromorphs' using the crude tools he finds along the way.

The 2008 original was a critical and commercial success, spawning Dead Space 2 (2011) and Dead Space 3 (2013) as well as spin-off titles like Dead Space: Extraction on the Wii. This remake will be the first entry in the franchise for a decade.

Coincidentally, Glen Schofield, co-creator of Dead Space, is currently hard at work on a spiritual successor called The Callisto Protocol at Striking Distance Studios. That's due for release at the end of this year and is shaping up to be even gorier than Dead Space.
