On a recent YouTube livestream (via VGC), Sega confirmed 11 more games that are planned for its Mega Drive/Genesis Mini 2 console in Japan, including five more titles for the Mega CD and six for the Mega Drive/Genesis. This brings the total number of games announced for the Japanese console to 44 in total.

Some of the games announced, including Tenka Fubu: Eiyuutachi no Houkou, Sorcerian, Ecco the Dolphin CD, and Tougi Ou: King Colossus, were never released in the West, so it's incredibly unlikely they'll be made available as part of the North American Genesis Mini 2. Other announced titles, like Gain Ground, Robo Aleste, and Viewpoint did make it overseas, however, making them possible new additions to the mini console in North America.

Here's the full list of titles announced at the event:

  • Viewpoint (Mega Drive)
  • Sorcerian (Mega Drive)
  • Tougi Ou: King Colossus (Mega Drive)
  • Gain Ground (Mega Drive)
  • Phantasy Star II (Mega Drive)
  • Populous (Mega Drive)
  • Romance of the Three Kingdoms III (Mega CD)
  • Shin Megami Tensei (Mega CD)
  • Tenka Fubu: Eiyutachi no Houkou (Mega CD)
  • Robo Aleste (Mega CD)
  • Ecco the Dolphin CD (Mega CD)

The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Mini 2 will launch on October 27th in both Japan and North America, but is expected to be in short supply in the West. No European announcement has been made yet, with doubts growing over whether the console will see a release in the UK or continental Europe, due to the global semiconductor shortage, and the smaller number of machines that are being manufactured. We'll keep you updated.
