Prologue

Al-Sarat is an oil-rich nation where a decades-long proxy war between global powers has finally reached its breaking point. What looked like the end of a civil war was nothing more than a brief silence before the storm. An unidentified militia, backed by a regional military power and financed by a vast criminal cartel, has quietly evolved into a professional fighting force equipped with state-level electronic warfare systems and surface-to-air missile batteries.

Western intelligence dispatched a Black Hawk formation to neutralise the leadership of Jamala, but the operation was blown before it even began. The insurgents had been tracking the mission in real time, positioning anti-air ambush teams at every approach into the city. As the formation entered the canyon corridor, a MANPADS missile cut through the Black Hawk's countermeasures and found its mark on the tail rotor. The helicopter went down in a fireball over the city square.

This was no accident. It was the final piece of a carefully designed trap, luring Western forces deep into the city as pawns in a global information war. Thousands of armed fighters closed in on the crash site as all communications went dark.
