Re: Sega's Classic Arcade Daytona USA Comes To PC In AI-Assisted Non-Emulator Fan Port

@slopperspotter how does using an LLM translate to "not caring about their work or others"?

There is a significant difference between engineer-built spec driven development, and vibe-coded projects by non-engineers. The former cares about the quality of the output, the latter cares about producing /something/ no matter the quality of the output.

The sooner the haters realise that software development has changed, the sooner we can stop having these silly arguments and just get on with building cool things.

@smaman but the bloke /isn't/ trying to hide it. That snippet you posted is from a file in a PUBLIC GitHub repo that someone that knows nothing about software development has picked up on, and assumed it's an attempt to hide the origins of the code. If there were real attempts to hide things, it would be kept locally and gitignored.

If you've spent /any/ time with LLM generated code you can see the whole project is LLM generated a mile off, you don't need the kind of evidence that has been dragged up to prove it.

Also just look at the time to create - a week ago there was no code, and there's now a fully working project??! C'mon guys....

The anti-AI vitriol is hilarious. Using an LLM is what professional software engineers do now, whether it's admitted or not. I actually openly disclose use of AI and STILL have lines like the above in my Claude.md, because I hate the free advertising that Anthropic are trying to inject into my repositories despite paying for tooling. If any software engineer tells you they're not using any AI in their projects in 2026, they're lying. End of.
