Re: "He Was Giddy" - Even Lord British Has Succumbed To The Allure Of GenAI

Wow! How reactionary and over simplified. AI is a complex topic. AI is coming. It is already solving incredible problems. It is also already causing incredible problems. It very well may be an existential risk to humanity!

That being said, it cannot be ignored. AI for code control and creation is clearly going to happen. Clearly going to make the code better.

AI can also be “unethical”. Much of its training has been swept from (c) materials that should be paid for. As we stated at DragonCon, we are exploring ethical uses of AI, such as to hire voice actors whom we will pay to use and expand their dialog, for the 1000+ NPCs a world might have.

The art style, the world building, the story design must all be human lead.

We are “exploring”, we have not jumped on or off any bandwagon.

If people don’t like my games, don’t play them. Games are in their second most major crash in history. While a few giant games like GTA6 make huge returns on a huge budget, most do not. Investment in new games is at a low. New strategies are needed.

Making games l, when you are the team lead, of department heads, who have sub leads, and then a team of 500, is no fun, it’s highly risky, hard to get funded, and often ends up with a sub par game.

Something needs to change. New methods to make a game with smaller teams again, less money again, and less years again, may be able to make making games fun rewarding and high quality.

A path out of the crash, is needed. What’s your suggestion? Where would you invest your time and money?
