I've never played a FF game, but I recall watching this movie as a kid, and I did so again a couple years back.
From someone who didn't play the games, I don't think the film was terrible at all. Visually it was impressive for it's time period. On a technical level for 2001, what was achieved was amazing.
It's a very middle of the road film for sure. It felt like a film that needed to be spread out across multiple sequels. Everything just feels rushed and underdeveloped.
It had some nice ideas, just none of them were executed very well at all.
@Damo I disagree. I think plenty of celebs play video games. Just they don't announce it. Rather it be casual or serious, many of them keep their private lives private.
We only really hear from celebs when it relates to promoting a product.
