Wonder Boy Universe, a fan community dedicated to all things Skateboarding Caveman Shape-Shifting Swordsman, has called out a weird listing on Steam that seems to be selling unofficial copies of the 1987 arcade release Wonder Boy in Monster Land, famously ported to the Sega Master System in 1988.

The bizarre listing, credited to publisher "Retro Maniac", went live on the Steam Store today, purportedly selling the classic action RPG for $5.00 USD (with an introductory offer of 20% off).

The listing doesn't reference - or seem to have any association with - any past or present Wonder Boy developers or publishers, such as Sega, Westone, or LAT.

Retro Maniac has only one other, utterly random product for sale: Data East's 1994 basketball title Street Hoop, which was uploaded to Steam on January 1, 2020. That's some relaxed publishing rollout, but still a faster turnaround than Blizzard Entertainment.

Of course, it would be wise for the Wonder Boy faithful to avoid this purchase for the time being.
