Analogue 3D Is Getting Some "Funtastic" Case Options

Their website and their email say two different things. One says "by Christmas" and the other says "shipping in January."

@MegaManFan Just the usual vague Analogue marketing. Their own word is worthless. To them, promises are meaningless. The hardware is the only thing that speaks in their favor.

Would’ve loved the option of one of these, but I pre-ordered my black unit in October 2024. I’m a bit miffed as an early adopter. No way I’m dropping more money on another. Analogue should have offered this option up front.

@Blast16 Yes, I was thinking exactly the same thing - my white arrived on Friday and I only set it up yesterday! It seems way too early to drop the special editions. However I’m consoling myself that as early adopters, we got them for $50 cheaper. This is a great piece of kit- it’s great revisiting all the old classics. N64 was my favourite console ever and this is an awesome way to relive it.

The salt is exploding from reddit. Fragile people shouldn't be early adopters.

This is an incredible screw over for people who pre-ordered or fought for the second pre-order. Analogue lives by the anti-consumer tactic of withholding purchase options to let FOMO consume the first machine stocks.

But, gamers will game, and no doubt the hardware will fly to Youtube channels and resell listings aplenty. So, the tactic works. You is winner, Analogue.

@hste Perhaps I did. I still agree with the criticism of Analogue, even as a purchaser of the Analogue 3D myself.

I wish they’d focus on keeping a regular stock of their consoles instead of doing these FOMO stunts. I don’t care about limited edition collectors items. I don’t care about color schemes. Just sell me a box that works and don’t make me jump through a bunch of hoops to pay you my money.

Ends up being $576.70 Australian dollars including delivery, ouch.

@hste For me "hate" isn't the word. There's so little in life I hate I don't want to use the term lightly. "Immensely disappointed by their lack of transparency and poor communication" sums it up better. They still make good products, but they abuse FOMO for things like this, and stick it to the early adopters who waited without having these kinds of choices the first go-around. It creates consumer distrust and ill will.
