Back in 2019, we reported that Super Fighter Team planned to localise the excellent tactical RPG Vixen 357 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, ending decades of Japanese exclusivity for the title.

Developed by Career Soft – the same team behind Langrisser, Elthlead, Gaia no Monshou and Gaiflame – Vixen 357 originally launched in 1992, and is a Fire Emblem-style turn-based tactical role-playing game which, instead of featuring knights and wizards, is focused on massive mechs.

Super Fighter Team stepped away from the project in 2022, only for Shinyuden to step in and pick up the game for Western release in 2025. Fast forward to the present day, and the finished project is finally here.

The sample we received from Shinyuden comes with a bunch of goodies, including a collector's trading card, a set of postcards, a double-sided poster, and a reversible cover. Everything looks and feels great, even though we had to reapply the cartridge label, which came away slightly during transit.

The English localisation seems pretty decent, too, although we haven't had a chance to play the game to completion as yet. The cart has been tested on our original Mk1 Japanese Mega Drive, Analogue Mega Sg and Sega Nomad, and it runs perfectly on all three systems.

If you fancy picking up your own copy, head this way.
