Re: "I Know Some People Don't Like This" - Final Fight MD's Latest Project Uses GenAI

iheartpizzallc

As a tiny company focused on making new Genesis / Mega Drive games, we understand the challenges involved with making new games for our favorite console. We are not financially wealthy. We do not accept donations; use crowdfunding; or launch pre-orders without having a product ready to ship.

It's incredibly difficult. So difficult, it's nothing short of a miracle when a project is finished and released. (In full disclosure, we haven't released any of our MD games yet.)

Every developer, artist, and company has to make decisions about generative AI. Our company will never use generative AI for any reason. We don't feel it's ethical - and we value integrity over profits. Our games are made entirety by humans for humans.

With that said, we understand why other developers, artists, and companies chose to use generative AI. That's their choice to make.

We appreciate it when AI usage is disclosed with a project, as it was here. While we do not support works made with generative AI, we will not bash anyone who feels differently.

Here's our worry, though. Our humble little MD game company has incredibly limited resources. While we've decided against using generative AI or copywrited assets stolen from other works, we anticipate that most customers don't care about the creative process.

Our games take years to develop, and cost us lots of money. We've invested heavily into our dream, and put our livelihood on the line to make it a reality. We hope there's still interest in human made MD games - because we can't compete with developers, artists, and companies who use generative AI.

But we can try. And we'll try our hearts out. Because we love our favorite console of all time - just like the developers, artists, and companies who use generative AI to make new MD games. We've chosen not to support their work, but we appreciate their passion. Hopefully people will appreciate our art and passion as well.

@N64-ROX Thank you for the kind words! It's just pizza and games, but the real goal is to bring people together, and create happy memories. More than a few people have expressed opinions about how this journey that I've embarked on is absolutely insane. They're right - and with humility, so am I. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm more than I can say. Promise to do my best to realize the dream in the most spectacular way possible!

@slider1983 Yeah, bold statements. We promised to give this project our very best. Our goal is to make a modern classic for our favorite console of all time, the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. Some people won't like the game. Others may knock it for whatever reason. We probably can't surpass huge AAA games made with by industry legends with massive budgets. All of that is perfectly OK. Fact is, we're a tiny team with limited resources...but we're passionate; hard working; and fearlessly chasing the dream. The game is called Go For It! - and that's exactly what we're going to do!

@Moroboshi876 Thank you! Yes, we will absolutely be releasing the game in physical and digital formats when the time is right. We've actually working quietly on the physical release and our marketing campaign for quite some time. Doing our very best to make something really special that people from all walks of life will enjoy for years to come. It's going to be a while yet, but we're humbly confident that it will be worth the wait!
