I would love to an modern day amiga, but unless it can do modern day computing its dead for me. I used to work for compusave in long island and i have meet with commodore exes. I made some suggestion but they as always never listened to their user nor people tasks to service the system.
In order for amiga to succeed not it has to have internet access with viable browser. Not the craps that is currently being push. Amiga must come the 21st century not stay behind. I thing a modern day 1200, 3000 and 4000 would be kicka---. Better will be an official amiga laptop, which was a suggestion i made to jay miner at amigaworld 1989 in new york. He told me which at that time i was 17 that it would be too expensive. Yet the amiga 4000 was released 2 years later for load of a price. The problem with commodore they alway played it safe and that what destroyed them.
I think that i will sit back and warch to see what happends but i wont hold me breath. Just let her die with dignity. I say that with a heavy heart. As a person who coded and service the amiga.
I wish someone would release amigaos 4 for x86 to embarrass Microsoft, apple, and linux folks. That would be something that i would support more than a amiga computer revival.
why? the brand died a long time ago. as commodore system owner, user, service repair and programmer. i hate to say this but its time is done and unless you can really compete with this pc industry and not charge the same price as equipment available today, it will die again. you will have to create an entire. Ew ecco system just like apple and i dont think this new team has the know-how. just like the other commodore owners wont listen to the user new and old. You have to create an ecco system you must go above and not worry about the financials which what the old owners did. When steve job come back to apple that was what he did and at that time apple was almost going to file for bankruptcy. You have to have that umf and if you dont you go broke. Ask intel, ibm, and hp that did not want to think outside the box. Its not just enough to love the system and want to see it go on. You have put money and time for new and improved products.
As an old commodore 128 and amiga 500 user then progressed to repairing those machines. Let me telll of all you, just let it die. It was what it was, commodore was great machines for the time. Now it just a dinosaur and no one but those who want relive days of old think its relavent. Unless you going to make an entire ecosystem its going to die again in about 6 months. What the Italian company is doing it much better. Create easy to use products that are going to be used now and not dumpster trash.
They are not even using the original or trying replicate boards that is not retro. Creating new components and using the same design board is retro. Using am fgpa board is wasting money because we can do this now amd not waste $300 plus.
I hate to say this but you will be in out of business by new year. There is no market at here in the US.
