Reading this reopens an old wound. I wanted a 2DS the moment it came out, and I've never forgotten about it ;_;
Even as a tween, I was efficiency-minded and knew there was no point pouring mad money into upsell gimmicks like (badly) simulated 3D.
If the thing did the same stuff as my DS but better, and opened up an entire new game catalog, AND had a price tag my parents didn't chortle at, that's more than I could've asked for.
The lack of hinge probably would've disagreed with my pockets, but it sure seems like getting one would've been a fun way to cut that console-buying streak of mine to 4 years rather than 14
