My Wii U GamePad batteries are still fine and not swollen. I have the original battery and a 3rd party high capacity battery. I use the high capacity battery most of the time, but every six month I charge up the original Nintendo battery to keep it in working order. (I recall reading an article suggesting this a while ago, may have been initiated by Nintendo.)

@Tasuki Unfortunately, Nintendo has stopped offering repairs on Wii U consoles and accessories as of July 2024.
