Koei Tecmo, in collaboration with developer Omega Force, are prepping the battlefield for the upcoming release Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered. To whet bloodthirsty appetites, the re-envisioned edition of the PS2 warmonger will be receiving a demo on Thursday, September 24.

A fan-favourite entry in the seemingly endless franchise, Dynasty Warriors 3 originally launched in 2001, utilising the PS2's power to bring its war of attrition screaming into the new millennium. Built on an entirely new engine, Dynasty Warriors 3 allowed for more frenetic fights, two-player co-op and improved visual fidelity over its predecessor, Dynasty Warriors 2 - itself a very early release in the PS2's lifetime. All of this was almost undone entirely thanks to the game's notoriously comical English dub.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered syncs the original base game with its expansion, Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends (2003), overhauling the entire package with an Unreal 5 visual upgrade, HDR, and ultra-wide monitor compatibility, along with a wealth of new features, modes and mechanics.

New battle tactics include horse-calling, new evasive options, and counterattacks. The remaster adds several all-new side stories, as well as a variety of additional challenge modes. All 40 officers from the original games are present and correct, with the Digital Deluxe Edition offering bonuses in the form of retro costumes, stat-boosting scrolls, and weapon synthesis materials, making it the definitive edition for Dynasty Warriors 3 veterans.

Already delayed from its initial release date of March 2026, it seems that most of the pieces are finally in place for release (online multiplayer is expected to be added post-release, in an update currently set for January 2027). Thursday's demo will give players an early opportunity to check out Omega Force's tribute to its own seminal work. To horse!
