When 2025 came to an end, we had no idea just how many times the gremlin ninja Zool would end up popping into our news tips over the eight months that have followed.

Since 2026 began, we've had 33 Games' reissues of Zool for the Sega Mega Drive, a brief tease for a new project called Zool 64 from Umbra Dynamics, and now, the announcement of a new physical collection of Zool 1 & 2 for the Atari Jaguar from Songbird Productions and Urbanscan Ltd.

It seems like somewhere out there, someone must have a summoning circle constructed out of Chupa Chups, set up in their living room, with that being our only guess as to why the Gremlin Graphics' platformer seems to be getting so much attention of late.

Songbird Productions announced the Zool Collection last Friday, with the release expected to launch next year in 2027.

As outlined in the video description on YouTube, it will feature the "STE" version of Zool alongside "a reprint of Zool 2" — all on one cartridge.

In the same description, there's also a reference to several "stretch goals" (we've reached out to Songbird Productions to clarify what this means), including quality-of-life improvements to Zool 2 (improved controls, additional music, and more), suggesting this could be a bit more hands-on than a simple rerelease.
