The Genesis / Mega Drive shooter Earthion is getting its own hand-built arcade controller, thanks to Games Care and Versao Ltda.
Games Care, as you might be aware, is the Brazilian company behind the FPGA recreation of the Sega Neptune.
"To survive, you'll need humanity's ultimate weapon," says the promotional video.
"So we built the controls to match this challenge. Inspired by the cockpit of the YK-IIA Fighter, introducing the YK-IIA Arcade Controller. Hand-built, one unit at a time. Down to the last detail. Pro-grade components. Precise. Responsive. Ready for battle."
The trailer above appears to use GenAI imagery – look at the detailing on the artwork, and you'll notice some odd blurring on the text. Check out the Earthion logo on the right-hand image.
Earthion creator Yuzo Koshiro is a fan of using GenAI on his social media accounts, but has always made a point of stating that he doesn't use the controversial technology in his games. However, in this case, I'd imagine that Koshiro himself wasn't responsible for this footage.
You can register your interest here, but it remains to be seen if this product will be offered for purchase outside of Brazil.
Earthion launched on PC and consoles last year, and is coming to the Mega Drive / Genesis soon.
On that topic, Koshiro has issued the following message on social media:
"Regarding the progress on the Arshion MD version. Currently, the operational checks on the actual device using the test PCB board have been almost completed. Due to the difficulty in predicting sales volume for the MD version cassettes, we are proceeding with careful consideration regarding the production quantity. Regarding pre-order sales, we should be able to announce details soon. To everyone looking forward to it, please wait just a little longer!"
