Like a great many gamers out there, we're big fans of Nanoleaf's lighting systems – as you'll no doubt be aware if you've admired any of the bespoke photography that litters this very site; suffice to say, our preferred backdrop is Nanoleaf lighting.

Nothing looks quite as cool as neon lighting in a darkened room, and we're pleased to report that Nanoleaf's latest product is very much on-brand if you're a seasoned gamer. The company has released a limited edition 'shapes' bundle with a Sonic the Hedgehog theme, which ties in neatly with the recently-released Sonic 2 live-action movie.

You get the required parts in the box to construct either Sonic, Tails or Knuckles, and like other Nanoleaf sets, putting the whole thing together is fairly easy (although we did have to download assembly instructions from the Nanoleaf site, as there aren't any in the box itself).

The set affixes to pretty much any flat surface thanks to super-strong stickers, and you can customize the colours using the Nanoleaf app. The panels will even react to music and images, and you can sync it up using the aforementioned desktop or mobile app.

The catch? Well, at £299, this isn't cheap – although, at the time of writing, the pack is on sale for £50 less than that.

Thanks to Nanoleaf for sending the sample used in this piece.
