About The Game

Rainbow Island CS is a collection of several home ports of the arcade game Rainbow Islands. In addition to the popular 8 and 16-bit versions, the collection includes the never-released-on-cartridge MegaDrive/Genesis version. With 24 quick-save/load slots for each version and a feature that displays the location of the diamonds, there's never been a better time to experience it. It also includes a feature that lets you start the game in a powered-up state. The PC Engine version is based on the NES™ version and features a main theme arranged for FM sound by Yukiharu Urita, as well as an ending theme composed by Norihiro Furukawa, both Zuntata (Taito's sound team) alumni. What is Rainbow Islands? Rainbow Islands is an arcade action game released by Taito in 1987 where the player controls Bubby or Bobby, using their rainbow magic as both weapons and platforms to climb and reach the goal at the highest point of each stage. [Story] At the end of the previous game, Bubble Bobble, the bubble dragons Bub and Bob had rescued their parents and girlfriends and returned to their human forms of Bubby and Bobby. Several years after those events, Bubby and Bobby return to their ancestral home, Rainbow Islands, in search of treasure, but end up entangled in another devious plot! It seems that their true nemesis, the Boss of Shadow, has since resumed his evil machinations. Bubby and Bobby's path is blocked by various enemies, but with the “rainbow magic” given to them by their parents, they bravely continue their adventurous journey. *The story described here is based on the Mega Drive and PC Engine versions.
