I'll try not to bump my own posts in the future, but I'll start this thread off. I am based in Australia so a good morning to all. I've found myself enjoying these forums a lot recently, really helps ease the stress from work & life. I find forums to be much more enjoyable, and generally have a better community than modern social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Discord. I was super surprised and grateful to see Time Extension pop up, I wasn't expecting it but can really appreciate the effort put in by the site owners and community members. A big thank you to all.

Impressive, very nice.

To kick things off, can I just say how exciting it is to see members from all of the main sites slowly trickle over here? It's exciting seeing someone you've seen countless times on other sites like NLife, Push Square and Pure Xbox start chatting like they would over there on a brand new site. It's a small thing, but seeing long time veterans like Tasuki for instance is always a great thing indeed. Can't wait to see where this site goes because I've been having a great time so far!

I'm curious to see what retro games people would love to see a sequel to. Either ia game that has never gotten a proper sequel, or hasn't received one in a long time.

My list (off the top of my head):
Ristar
Crystalis
Starfy
The Guardian Legend
Diddy Kong Racing
The Legend of Dragoon
Dragon Quest Monsters
King's Field
The Legacy of Kain series
Ikari Warriors
Contra (a real sequel to Contra 4)

@Fizza I think it helps with this being a retro site and all so it's a blend of all ages here. I am not stereotyping here, but for some reason Nintendo tends to attract a younger crowd. I use to be very active on NL say 10 years ago or so. Often I would talk with other users about the 8 bit and 16 bit era talk about our latest NES or Genesis pick up but as time went on it seems the older generation has left NL only by a younger generation who don't appreciate older systems. It's kinda hard to strike up a conversation about NES games when the general crows wants to discuss Nintendo DS and GameCube. Often times on NL I would try to bring up a conversation only to be ignored because it's not about the Wii or 3DS.

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the Wii or GameCube but those console don't not hold as high regards as say the NES or SNES to me. In the same regard I understand that the NES and SNES doesn't hold the same regard to the younger crowd as say GameCube or Wii. And again nothing wrong with the younger crowd but it's just disappointing when so many of the older crowd that I enjoyed chatting with haven't showed up in months, or even years. The whole dynamic of NL has changed over the years it just feels that us older gamers are getting pushed out for a younger generation.

Here though at least for now, it doesn't feel like that and I hope it stays that way.

@Tasuki I feel the same way as you about being an older retro gamer. I love the DS and 3DS, but I'm also old enough to remember and really LOVE the NES days, as well as live through the Super NES and Genesis rivalries.

Good to see you here! Looking forward to good conversations!!

Hahaha, yeah I felt like that talking about the Intellivision and Atari 2600.

@Tasuki I can understand that. It's nice to have a place here that some of the older gamers can appreciate. I hope we can attract more users to the site and look forward to building an active community.

I also think it's appreciated when younger gamers try their hand at some of the older titles. There truly is a vast library of content, and while they can't truly experience it the way we did during it's prime, it's still great to see people appreciating games from the past.

I think platforms such as Nintendo Switch Online for example, are generally a good thing. While it was criticised for being essentially a streaming service, at least it can give younger players a chance to experience older games they probably would never buy individually.

@kerr9000 Ha, that cracked me up.

@Guitar_bard Ah there are too many games I would like to see a sequel or remaster to, but I'm also a little afraid to ruin the original's legacy. I'm generally not a fan when they change things a little too much from the previous overall feel.

@exit Well im glad it made you laugh I started recording a video of some of my spectrum collection and kind of stoped 10 minutes in and uploaded it, mostly cause I was going look its..... and then thought who is going to care lol , its been viewed 17 times.

Oh man, sorry to hear that! When I get a chance to play tonight (I live in the States), I'm going to head back into Crystalis.

Me too, it's Crystalis time. I'm enjoying it a lot after a long break of more than 6 months because I was stuck.
I would like to continue also my master playthrough of Zelda BotW, I may have enough time today.

@Guitar_bard @andreverts seems there are quite a few playing Crystalis on here. You guys need little Crystalis badges under your avatars.

@exit @andreverts I was thinking the same thing. I wonder why that game sounds so appealing to a bunch of us right now. Great game though.

@Guitar_bard how's your playthrough going?
According to the instruction manual, I am in the 7th area, it contains item descriptions along with hints about where and how to use them. I don't know if I would have made it so far without it, a fundamental tool!
