Re: Anniversary: The Atari ST, Everyone's Second Favourite 16-bit Home Computer, Turns 40

Troyzilla

I had my Atari 400 for 5 years when my dad got me a 520ST for Christmas I 1985. The drawing programs like Degas were cool as were games like Sundog, Star Glider, Gridiron! and Carrier Command. But the Jay Miner magic was missing. It felt cheap like a C64, not quality like a (more expensive) Atari 8 bit. Eventually I bought an Amiga and moved up to DPaint the better versions of the Cinemaware games and Lightwave and the Video Toaster. I knew musicians who kept their ST computers for Midi and most of their software came from Europe eventually. I kept upgrading my Amiga and started my career in Visual Effects. I'm very grateful for Jay Miner and the amazing computers he designed.
