My first computer was ZX spectrum and my dad bought used Atari st from my cousin.
I learned sequencing MIDI music with Atari st but there was also tcb tracker and protracker for making 4 channel mod music.
There was not much tools but I got sound digitizer from my friend. Digitizer was School project that was powered by 9 volt battery. It could record short sounds and save them as SPL format.
It was quite advanced on 80s but later on early 90 pc sound blaster made sampling much better.
