@PKDuckman I assume you mean „Hugh Baldwin“? Yes - I even made him a playable character you can choose when starting a new game; But I didn’t do much code wise. So if you play the demo I wouldn’t suggest to pick Hugh, only if you want to try out how he looks in the game currently. Only thing that is added for him is walking around and do standard sword swings. Not when running, jumping or sliding animations/moves are added for him.
I am very honored to see my project being mentioned in an article on this site. I did just make a difficult decision; Until now I scaled all the assets (backgrounds, character sprites…) by 1,5x because the GBA original assets looks pretty tiny on a the higher screen res of the Mega Drive. However it distorts the original pixel set just too much.
Surprisingly, for some sprites it looked still very good, but for others not. So I had to come up with a solution. The best solution would have been to find someone who is redoing all the assets pixel by pixel in a bigger version while imitate the original as close as possible. This however, would be a huge amount of work and I am not an artist by Myself.
I ended up to use the original size, which is like a zoomed out mode. I might choose to use the H32 mode (256x224) which would be closer to the 240x160 GBA res. Maybe I will even put it as an toggle switch into the options, so someone could toggle between 256 and 320 mode.
@Spookles He is I am the person doing it. Feel free to get in touch with me regarding the walk animation. Happy to upgrade it in my game if you are able to do a more detailed animation.
