This past weekend, the F-Zero GX community released a litany of newly discovered cheat codes, offering a wealth of powerful shortcuts to unlocking parts, courses and machines in the 2003 sci-fi racing title.

The cheats, as reported by NintendoEverything and noted in a video from dedicated player Madeo Joestar (aka "Piccolo"), have been confirmed to work on both the original GameCube release as well as the Nintendo Switch 2 "Nintendo Classics" edition. There is a catch, however, in that some of these (already fairly complex) codes must be input on no less than four controllers simultaneously.

The first run of cheat codes, that only need to be input on a single controller, are as follows:

  • All AX Courses Unlocked: X X < > Y Z Z Y < > X < > Z X > < Y Y
  • All AX Machines Unlocked: X Y < > Z Z > < Y X Z Z Y Y > > >
  • Dark Schneider Unlocked: Z Z Z X X X X Y Y < < > > > Y Y

The second set of codes, arguably the most powerful in regard to time-saving, unlocks Gold Parts. These codes, as mentioned above, must be input simultaneously on four controllers:

  • Thunderstorm: X Z Y Z X Z Y X
  • El Dorado: X > X Z Y < < Z
  • Chrono Symphony: < > Z > < X > Z
  • Bahamut: Y Y Z > < Z X Y
  • Gladiator: > Z X < < > Z X

Piccolo notes that there is no "time limit" to entering the Parts Codes, but each button must be hit on all four controllers at the same time. So it's going to take a few friends and perhaps a few attempts. If you own a Wavebird, then that can be used with four receivers to rep four individual controllers... But then you'd also have to have four receivers.

The long and short of it is that the Gold Part codes might take a little creativity, but given the rarity of these unlocks (they were originally only thought accessible via GameCube cheat devices), it's certainly worth the effort. Kudos to Piccolo for the discovery of these codes, which bring a wealth of useful shortcuts to the F-Zero GX Switch community in particular.

F-Zero GX is available now on Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo Classics range.
