The GKD mini is one of many emulation handhelds which caught the attention of the retro gaming masses not so long ago, and the company is back with a revision that offers something a little different.
The GKD mini Plus looks a lot like its older sibling, with a similar screen, D-pad and face buttons. The difference here is that this diminutive device has a bolt-on attachment – dubbed the Mini Dock – which adds two analogue sticks. It connects to the main body of the console via a USB-C port.
The changes are apparent under the hood, too, with a higher-resolution 640 x 480 pixel IPS LCD display, a Rockchip RK3566 processor (1.8 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor with ARM Mal-G52 2EE graphics) and 1GB of RAM. There's a 3,000 mAh battery providing the juice and two MicroSD card slots.
If you're not too fussed about having the option to remove the analogue sticks for a smaller, more pocket-friendly form factor, then you can opt for the GKD mini Plus Classic, which offers the same specs but keeps the dual analogue controls fused to the main body. This variant really looks like a Game Boy.
The GKD mini Plus is expected to sell for around 469 CNY (about $68 / £59) in China while pricing for the Classic model hasn't been revealed as yet. Expect to pay a higher price for units imported to your region.

Look, I'm normally down for off-kilter designed technology like this, but that stick placement is anemic.
I’m new to these kind of devices, so can someone tell me what games it can play and how that’s done? Because this looks very nice.
