Avenging Spirit is a title that we have a lot of affection for. The Jaleco arcade game about a vengeful (but surprisingly adorable) spirit first hit the arcades in North America and Japan back in 1991, and since then has received several ports; most of which have been able to recapture the game's charm and quirky sense of humour. But now it seems the game is destined to make a trip to even more modern machines, with Ratalaika Games handling this latest set of ports, for the game's license holder City Connection.
Ratalaika Games announced the game over on its website, revealing that it will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on July 29, 2022. It also posted a trailer of the game over on its YouTube channel, so you can see what this odd, little action-platformer is all about.
In Avenging Spirit, you play as a young man who is ambushed and killed by a mysterious crime syndicate one day, while out walking one day with your girlfriend. Now, a wandering spirit, it's up to you to rescue your girlfriend from this violent gang, possessing other people in order to achieve your goal. This is a neat mechanic, not too dissimilar to that seen in Kirby, letting you take on the abilities of ninjas, gangsters, and wizards to use against an army of enemies and the game's many bosses. If you want to buy the latest version of the game, it will retail for £5.99/$5.99/€5.99 on digital storefronts upon release.

I’ve been eyeballing this one, it looks fun, but I’m always wary of Ratalaika games as the quality can swing massively from game to game and I need a review stating a game is quality before I would consider their games.
I thought this was just a Game Boy game. Weird.
@bimmy-lee: It's generally important to get info on the developer for their games. AFAIK, there's nothing wrong with their port work at all, the reason for the variable quality is the different devs they publish. Thus in this case, the game should hold up as well as it ever did.
@Stuffgamer1 - That makes sense. I understand they’re the publisher, they just publish games of uneven quality, as opposed to a publisher like Devolver who put out mostly excellent games in my opinion.
